Senior Base Pilot

Ideally, you are capable of flying all three aircraft types:

  • Cessna 172 - Float Instruction and Sightseeing

  • Cessna 185 Amphib - Sightseeing and Charters

  • DeHavilland Beaver - Sightseeing, Charters and Servicing Camps.

Scope

The Senior Base Pilot has a passion for safety, flying, leadership and mentoring and will partner with other members of the company to deliver Inspiring Adventures through the Wonders of Flight to our clients. In this senior position you will represent the company and liaise with clients, pilots and other team members to ensure the safe, timely and successful delivery of flights.

General

Responsibilities

The Senior Base Pilot will be assigned to our Orillia Operational Base (OB) and will be responsible for the professional standards of the flight crew under his / her supervision and in particular:

a)     Co-ordinate with the Chief Pilot and Operations Manager regarding the day-to-day operations at the OB.

b)     Assigns duties and oversees the OB Flight Operations in general; and supervises the pilots under their supervision to ensure they meet the standards expected of them.

c)      Liaises as required with the Main Base of Operations and PRM, to co-ordinate maintenance requirements, record keeping and any operational needs.

d)     Ensures that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner; and that Technical Dispatch and Flight Following Procedures are followed.

e)     Liaises with the Manager of Client services at the OB to ensure clients are receiving excellent service.

f)       Performs the flying duties of PIC on operational flights (Scenic Flight, Charters, Camps).

g)     Provides float instruction for Float Endorsement Candidates

h)     Assists in maintenance of aircraft

i)       Assists in grooming and cleaning of aircraft

j)       Moving aircraft in and out of water and hangars

k)      Other duties that may be required as result of the business needs

Responsibilities as per the Company Operations Manual 104.42

Responsible for the professional standards of the flight crews under his/her supervision at their base of operations (Detached Operational Base).

(A) report to and coordinate with the Chief Pilot and or Operations Manager regarding the day-to-day operations at their base,

(B) be familiar with and

       a. assume, the role and

       b. responsibilities of an Acting Chief Pilot,

(C) ensure that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner,

(D) ensure that Technical Dispatch and Flight Following procedures are adhered to, and

(E) assume any responsibilities delegated by the Chief Pilot or Flight Operations Manager.

 

Location

The position is primarily located at the Orillia Airport (CJN4, CNV6) however work will be required at the company’s Outpost Camps and Parry Sound Harbour (CPS1) location as required.

 

Pilots — Parry Sound and Orillia locations

The Line Pilot (PIC) has a passion for safety, flying and will partner with other members of the company to deliver Inspiring Adventures through the Wonders of Flight to our clients. In this position you will represent the company and liaise with clients, pilots and other team members to ensure the safe, timely and successful delivery of flights.

The Line Pilot will be assigned to our Parry Sound Operational Base (OB) and will be responsible to the Senior Base Pilot, Chief Pilot and when delegated to our Flight Operations Manager for the professional standards of the flight crew under his / her supervision and in particular:

a)     Co-ordinate with the Senior Base Pilot regarding the day-to-day operations at the OB.

b)     Liaises as required with the Main Base of Operations and PRM, to co-ordinate maintenance requirements, record keeping and any operational needs.

c)      Ensures that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner; and that Technical Dispatch and Flight Following Procedures are followed.

d)     Liaises with the Manager of Client services at the OB to ensure clients are receiving excellent service

Pilot in Command (PIC)

Company pilots are responsible to the Chief Pilot and the Senior Base Pilot (if operating at a Detached Operational Base),

for the safe conduct of assigned flights. Specific duties include:

(A) Checking weather, all applicable NOTAMs where available, determining fuel and oil requirements,

(B) Calculating the aeroplane weight & balance,

(C) Completing an Informal Operational Flight Plan, and/or Flight Plan/Flight Itinerary as applicable,

(D) Completing an aeroplane pre-flight inspection before each departure,

(E) Supervise or carry out the loading and securing of cargo/freight,

(F) Briefing passengers in accordance with the requirements outlined in Chapter 3,

(G) Responsible for Flight Watch in accordance with the procedures listed on page 19, section 206,

(H) Completing all post flight duties, including notification/confirmation to company of the whereabouts of the

aeroplane when away from base, closing flight plans if required, completing company forms such as the informal

operational flight plan and daily flight sheets, recording flight times and any defects, cleaning aircraft as required,

securing the aircraft appropriately, etc.

The position is primarily located at the Parry Sound (CPS1) however work may be required at the company’s location in Orillia (CNJ4)a s required.
